Description of Activities

From the 1st April – 30th  June 2026, Lifted Generation Ministry with funding support from Global Ministry Partners, implemented the following key activities to transform the lives of people in need in the rural communities of Unyama Sub-County, Gulu District in Northern Uganda with the concept of MORE JESUS, MORE WASH.

More Jesus

Through the More Jesus initiative, LGM established a new Bible study group in Atede Village where Borehole No. 9 was drilled. The establishment of this Bible study has strengthened relationships among community members, helping them grow in their faith and encouraging mutual support as children of God. The group meets every Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. for weekly Bible study sessions, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, including children, women, youth and older persons.

During the quarter, children continued to receive support through the distribution of printed Gospel booklets. The illustrated content in the booklets has helped them better understand God’s Word and nurtures their spiritual growth. The Gospel booklets were distributed during community Bible study sessions as well as in schools, providing children with accessible resources to strengthen their faith.

Continuous support for and facilitation of Bible studies in different communities remained a key focus throughout the reporting period. High attendance and active participation by community members were consistently observed, reflecting their strong commitment to learning God’s Word and growing together in faith.

Community exchange Bible study visits continued during the reporting period, fostering fellowship and shared learning among participating villages. Members from Agulu Mola visited the Agung community during their Bible study session, while members from Coo-Pill visited Atede Village to conduct a joint Bible study. These exchange visits provided opportunities for participants to connect, encourage one another, share God’s Word, and learn from the different approaches used by each community in conducting Bible studies. As a result, the visits strengthened their understanding of Scripture and enriched their spiritual growth.

During the reporting period, 21 children from Coo-Pill Village were prepared for and received the sacrament of Baptism in the newly constructed pavilion, which serves as a venue for Sunday worship services and weekly Bible study sessions. Of the 21 children baptized, 10 were also confirmed. This milestone has significantly contributed to their spiritual development, strengthening their faith and deepening their understanding of God’s Word.

More WASH

During this quarter, LGM expanded its More WASH (WAter, Sanitation, and Hygiene) intervention with the following activities.

LGM organized and facilitated a WASH education event for community members at Agung Community Health Centre. The training was attended by community members, local community leaders, Sub-County leaders, and the LGM team. The session focused on raising awareness of good health, sanitation and hygiene practices that individuals should adopt both at home and within the health facility. Following the training, participants demonstrated their commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment by cleaning the health centre and its surrounding compound, reinforcing their shared responsibility for the hygiene and upkeep of the community health facility.

The construction of Agung Community Health Centre was successfully completed during the second quarter. All planned construction works have been finalized and preparations are underway to operationalize the facility. LGM is currently awaiting formal communication and authorization from the In-Charge of Angaya Health Centre to facilitate the official opening and commencement of health service delivery at Agung Community Health Centre. Once operational, the facility is expected to improve access to essential healthcare services for the surrounding communities.

Handwashing facilities were distributed to the Health Centre and community Bible study groups to promote improved health and hygiene practices among community members, children, and learners. These facilities support proper handwashing and reinforce the hygiene messages delivered during WASH education sessions. The knowledge and skills gained through these sessions will enable participants to consistently practice proper hand hygiene, contributing to improved personal health, disease prevention, and overall community well-being for improved development.

During the reporting period, team members from LGM participated in a Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) training organized by Texans and Ugandans on Mission. The training was designed to equip participants with practical approaches for promoting community-led health and sanitation initiatives by utilizing locally available resources, establishing community clusters, and encouraging collective responsibility for improving health and hygiene standards. The knowledge and skills acquired through the training will be integrated into LGM’s WASH programming to strengthen health and hygiene promotion and enhance the well-being of communities across its areas of operation.

LGM, with support from GMP, also recruited a program coordinator and procured a motorcycle to facilitate efficient transportation and enhance the implementation of program activities across its areas of operation. The motorcycle has significantly improved the mobility of staff, enabling timely supervision, monitoring, and delivery of both More WASH and More Jesus program activities in target communities. This investment has increased operational efficiency and strengthened LGM’s capacity to effectively reach and serve communities thereby contributing to improved program implementation and community transformation.

Key Results

• Construction of Agung Community Health Facility was successfully completed
• LGM team members acquired skills on Community Total Led Sanitation concepts
• Two Bible study groups were supported with handwashing facilities and trained on health and hygiene promotion
• WASH education was organized and conducted at Agung Community Health Centre
• Children were supported with the Children’s gospel booklets (500 copies)
• Support for menstrual hygiene for women and girls was provided
• Continuous support for More Jesus has been registered through Bible studies, Bible distribution, and spiritual counselling

Challenges & Recommendations

Challenge: Rain interfered greatly in some Bible study sites with limited huts for refuge.

Recommended Action: When resources allow, pavilions should be constructed at Bible study sites with limited huts for refuge during rainy times.

Challenge: Limited Bible study facilitators as Bible study sites expand.

Recommended Action: Identify and train local community Bible study facilitators on how to conduct Bible study in their groups.

Challenge: Low self-esteem among other Bible study participants.

Recommended Action: The participants need to be encouraged and Bible study exchange needs to be encouraged by LGM.

Lessons Learnt

• The exchange Bible study learning visits are embraced by most participants and they are willing to keep learning and engaging in Bible studies through exchange visits.
• More support on menstrual health education remains a central focus to promote health hygiene and dignity among women and girls in the region.
• The Children’s Gospel booklets greatly motivate children to attend Bible studies and encourage them to understand the word of God easily.
• Low turn up for Bible studies when it rains still continues to affect the smooth running of Bible studies in some areas.
