THE FIRST QUARTER REPORT FROM MAYUGE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CENTER
P.O BOX 26745 KAMPALA
Introduction
We extend our sincere gratitude and greetings to all our partners, donors, friends and well-wishers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We wish to inform you that the staff, board of governors and all key stakeholders of Mayuge Christian Education Centre are playing their respective roles towards the smooth running of all projects at the center.
Below is the project status report for the period running from 1st January – 31st March 2025.
Background
This report highlights MCEC activities implemented within the first quarter of 2025, supporting adults and children at MCEC and in the local community. It also details MCEC outreach activities in nearby communities, providing clean water access and supporting spiritual development through Bible studies.
Ministry
These sessions are open to all interested members of the community regardless of religion. MCEC is committed to ensuring that everybody hears about the name JESUS. In November 2024, we started a campaign code named MORE JESUS MORE WASH, extending the ministry beyond the MCEC property. With the coming of the New Year, four additional Bible studies have started:
- Baitambogwe Health Center III (Every Thursday 10am-11am)
- Namusenwa Health Center II (Every Wednesday 9am- 11am)
- Lugolole village I (Every Tuesday 3pm-5pm)
- Lugolole Village II (Every Thursday 3pm-5pm)
We now have a total of seven bible studies in Mayuge. They are being led by the three Pastors Prosy, Phionah and Richard.

Education
Adult education classes started earlier last year at MCEC, running from Monday to Thursday during school holidays from 3:00pm-5:00pm, and every Tuesday and Thursday when school resumes. The participants in these classes can now write their names, spell simple words, and read story books.

MCEC partnered with Mulingirire Primary School earlier this year and provided the school with four teaching assistants for Primary 1 and Primary 2. These assistants help teach pupils how to read so that they can learn better and improve their performance. In 2024, MCEC entered into a partnership with Baitambogwe Primary School, providing four teaching assistants. The pupils’ performance in reading and scores greatly improved. The headmaster, on behalf of the school management, is always grateful to MCEC and its partners for all the support given to the school.

Vocational/Technical Skills
Mechanics
The second motorcycle mechanics class finished their training earlier this year in January and are now doing their internship at different garages. The seven boys have all confirmed with us their working stations and are being supervised. MCEC started a new program in which MCEC will loan the boys 350,000 schillings to buy tools which they can then pay back at 0% interest.

Tailoring
The third tailoring class is progressing well at the Centre. The team is confident that by the end of the eight-month training period, the girls will be ready to go out and start working. They have practiced a number of products: dresses, shirts, shorts, pads, and many more.

Computer Skills
Computer lessons at the Centre started earlier this year in January with six participants. The program runs from Monday to Thursday at 10:00am – 1:00pm during school holidays, and every Monday and Friday at 3:00pm – 5:00pm once schools resume. The main aim of these lessons is to eradicate computer illiteracy among the community members.

Agriculture
Poultry
The new batch of birds started laying this year on the 30th of January with three eggs. Currently, 232 eggs are obtained on a daily basis. They are then sold off and the income received is being re-invested in the project. The birds are healthy and being taken care of effectively. We hope to receive more eggs and sales from the batch.

Cattle
Patience (the cow) was confirmed with to be “in calf” by the end of the last quarter and we are hoping for a calf at the start of the second quarter. Update: Patience gave birth to a boy calf in April.

Garden
On the 6th of February, we received our very first cocoa harvest with eight healthy fruits and we have continued to receive more since then. The seeds of these fruits are going to be collected, dried, and sold. The sales will then be re-invested. With the irrigation system we got, the dry season (from Dec-Mar) did not greatly affect our garden; the crops stayed green and healthy compared to the past two years.

Hygiene and Health
WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Program
The WASH program has been running in three categories: Schools, health centers, and community.
MCEC ended 2024 teaching sanitation and hygiene at three primary schools and two community meeting centers. One clean well was drilled. But in the first quarter of 2025, we have accessed six schools, two health centers and seven community centers where we teach people about sanitation and hygiene.
Through the More Jesus More WASH campaign we have positively impacted thousands of lives in Mayuge through six clean and safe water sources (four hand-pump boreholes and two electric wells)!

Community Visits
Although MCEC organizes community Bible studies and WASH sessions, the staff also goes ahead and visits individual residents at their homes to pray, comfort and encourage them through their trials in life.
Health
MCEC has partnered with the Mayuge local government to provide some support in the area of health. MCEC recruited a well- trained energetic midwife and stationed her at Baitambogwe Healthy Center III to help service the overwhelming number of patients who come to the facility every day.
Donations
MCEC with the help of its partners has managed to donate funds to cover expenses of:
- The drilling of four boreholes at Mulingirire Primary School, Nabalongo Village, Baitambogwe Health Center III, and Bunalwenyi Village
- Maternity dresses for teenage mothers and other dresses for women in the community
- Handwashing stands and scholastic materials to schools
- Bibles
- Vegetable seeds
- A pit latrine at Bugodi Infant and Primary School
- Eight primary teachers
- One midwife
Celebrations
With MCEC’s new goal of More Jesus More WASH, 25 people from the different communities where Bible studies are held were baptized on the 13th of February this year.
